Lake Forest And The Greater Chicago Area
Chicago, for about a decade now, has been the stand-in for the fictional Gotham City of the Batman series. Since the city's beginning, the history and secrets of Chicago have been just as relevant as they still are today. From the mobs of prohibitions' hidden dumping grounds to Lincoln Park being a mass grave, the city has had its fair share of strange and unusual tales.
In 2011 reports came in about something in the sky. People have been seeing a dark, winged humanoid creature with glowing red eyes. While this creature has been reported across the country for decades now, starting in Point Pleasant,West Virginia in 1966, It's very unusual seeing such a thing in the city itself.
In 1966, in a little town named Point Pleasant, West Virginia, the same type of creature was spotted many times before the collapse of a bridge which killed 46 people. We still don't know if this creature was trying to warn us or caused the incident itself, but what we do know is that the Mothman now haunts our history, causing us to rethink a great many things.
Lon Stickler, a paranormal investigator who has been tracking these reports since 2017, and has recorded 29 sightings so far since that time. Most of the sightings occur around Lake Michigan, usually in the evening. The latest sighting he received happened Wednesday, August 9 along North Lake Shore Drive. A wife and husband were walking in that area around 9:20 PM when they saw this creature swoop from the sky and eventually fly towards them.
What is interesting is that the wife reported the creature being 5 to 6 feet with a small head and deep blue green skin that appeared shiny. The wings look like a butterfly's and attached along the body. Also this is one of the first reports of its feet which were long and tapered.
29 sightings! That's so exciting and yet we still have no idea what this creature is. Many theories of the Mothman or now Mothmen, range from Extraterrestrials to Angels. However something that should alarm us at this time is that the last time a creature of this type was seen, a disaster struck. Since this creature flies the Chicago skies, will there be a disaster in the years to come?
Throughout history, strange occurrences have marked great events. From the time of Caesar to hometown America, these occurrences have change the shape of the world. Will we listen to them? Will we heed these messages? Only time will tell.
